Steamboat Springs

On to Steamboat Springs, CO where our days were full of adventure, sites, lots of playing, swimming, and relaxing.  One of our days we walked an easy trail up to see the falls.  It was a beautiful day and the kids enjoyed seeing the plants, bugs, and chipmunks.
Here we are at the top of the trail with Nanny and Papa.
Another day we went on a biking adventure along the Yampa River trail, which runs along the town.  We stopped for the sites, shopping and ice cream.  This day was a lot of fun.
We took a pit stop to play and relax at a super fabulous park.
Papa found the best place to hang out...
Then we biked more and then it was time for lunch.
We had lunch at the most refreshing place, Freshies.  Loved it!
It was so wonderful, I would not mind making it our annual vacation location.
Just a few more moments to document, so tune in again soon!
Happy weekend.

back to our holiday

We had such a fabulous summer holiday, I wanted to share more...
Again, the scenery was amazing, but summertime poolside was the best!
Can we go back?  I need a vacation...

1st day

B had her first day of Preschool today.  Ahhh, I am so glad this day is officially behind us.
Truthfully, it was not easy for either one of us.
She did fabulous leading up to "the drop off."  She was so excited.  She was ready to go with her new backpack (thank you Baca), lunch box, and nap mat (made by me, of course).  Daddy even left her a good luck video message on the computer since he had to be at work.  She was good to go!
She led the way into the building.
Clearly, N was NOT happy to let his sister go to Preschool all by herself.
She very quickly spotted her name on an apple to add to the tree, signifying her attendance.
She was happy to see her new teachers again and was doing great until another little girl started to cry... then it all began.  I could see she was getting nervous and asked N and I to stay one more minute... and then another.  Before we left, she requested her doll and before we knew it, one of the teachers snatched her up and said, "Mommy is going to leave to go home to clean."  In my head I thought "Did I just warp back into the 50's?  I'm headed to Pilates, thank you very much!"
But really, she was crying and hysterical.  She seemed scared as her teacher whisked her back into her classroom (I think it scared her, plus I do not think she was fully aware that N and I were actually leaving the building).  It was my (or our) worst fear.
You know how "they" say, it is worse on you than it is on them...
I seriously question that after today.  It was rough.
But we made it through and at the end of her day she did say she wanted to go back.  Her teachers confirmed, she did okay after she took a little time for herself.
Bless her little heart.
N talked all day about how B was crying, so he was very excited and relieved to see her when we picked her up (so was I).
At the end of the day she was more than ready to go home... Daddy even came home early to pick her up.

open house

Catching up on this blog... B had her Preschool open house.  She got acquainted with her teachers and surroundings.  N tagged along, of course, and I think he would love to join her...
he will start next year.  They grow up so fast.
We asked her what was her favorite thing from the open house...
the letter and shapes fishing poles.  N agreed.

family time

The kids enjoyed playing with their cousins while visiting Nanny and Papa.
All this family-time is wearing us out!  Time for a nap...

reunion

So... it has been 15 years since I graduated from High School.  YIKES.  Our class had yet to hold a reunion and it was finally organized for our 15th.  The good news?  I got to catch up with a lot of friends.
I had the best excuse to spend some well needed time with my two best girl friends...
We have been friends for over 20 years!
The guys entertained each other and were good sports... such jokesters.
Really though, many of us went to college together, too.  But it was fun remembering High School.
N's favorite part was the unlimited Oreo cookies.
Many of us have some little kids running around...
I still can't believe how grown up my girl friend's girls have become...

It was a fun couple of days with my girls.  I miss them already.

On to Nanny and Papa's

After a week at Grandma and Grandpa's house, we loaded up and headed to the other side of Wyoming.  What a view...
On the agenda... attend my 15-year (yikes!) HS class reunion, spend some quality time with my two best girlfriends and to spend some time with Nanny and Papa.
First things, first.  We all have been eyeing Papa's tractor and now it is finally our chance to go for a ride!
Playing with our other cousins was definitely fun, too.  Dress up with our cousins is always on the list.  B would live in this ladybug costume if we would let her.
Taking some time out to go swimming was definitely a must...
this was our summer holiday, right?!
