a bit more easter

i totally failed to mention, we dyed easter eggs for the first time this year, too.  yes, we have never dyed eggs with the kids.  what the?!
ready, set... now it is time for some fun!

after we decorated eggs we played around for a while and then decided we should get them in the refrigerator.  since N is allergic to eggs, we don't cook them around here.  when we bought them, he was a little perplexed.  now that they are very cool looking, we talked about how we should keep them cold and i would crack them open and eat them this week.  what?!  N was mortified that i would suggest such a thing.  you will crack them and eat them?  then he huddled them up, like he was going to protect his little eggs.  this is all our fault as parents.  we very rarely eat meat, so the thought of eating these beautiful eggs was a bit much.  it was funny.  i still will eat them, just in secret.  shh!  don't tell him!

B & N also painted their gifts from the easter bunny - it was a fun day.

easter week

we had a fun and crazy week... egg hunts, school parties, cookie decorating party, easter dinner.

N and his buddy T at Preschool
B ready for the hunt... we hid 200+ eggs for her little class
cookie decorating with 13 kids at our house...
Easter dinner at our house with three other families.
the kids hunted for eggs inside after dinner.  it rained all weekend.
this sums it up nicely... it was total mayhem and fun.  i would do it again in a second.

father's day is ok

wow.  i am behind.  we have been busy with renovations to our house and then a fantastic visit from my parents.  so to catch you up, we will start with the simplest.  father's day.
we enjoyed some time with our friends.  we had a bbq with all the fun {although N might disagree, he was a little out numbered}.
the girls had a ball.
it has been hot, so the pool has worked out nicely.
N decided to go solo and cool off on his own...
while the girls made a mad dash for the pool.
the dads hung back to enjoy a few drinks and the ladies tried to sneak as much a/c as possible with a bucket of margaritas close by.
happy summer.

happy easter

spring is here and the weather this weekend was really nice, nearly 80.
we were invited to a farm by another TU family for an egg hunt, lunch, and to see new chicks.
B even won a hula hoop.
you know N just loved the chicks more than anything.
B thought they were pretty cool, too.  they all were different colors.
we played in the fields... mommy and daddy both got ticks.  fun.
we got a little goofy, too.
easter sunday was spent constructing a play deck {of course, involves multiple trips to the hardware store}.
who doesn't want to hunt eggs twice?
then two other families joined us at our house for another egg hunt, cracking eggs over each others' heads and dinner.
we are blessed to have our TU family here.
all the kids had another great day together.
we are all here, far from family.  so, we are banning together and created our own family here.

glimpse

now that the tree is down and the house is de-cluttered, it is time to share the photos.

everyone got what they wanted... a silver tutu, a lion, a snake, slippers, and new jamas.

of course there were a lot of extra presents thrown in the mix and it made everyone oh so happy.

we braved the snowy roads and had dinner with our close friends.

and we rounded out the night by the tree, enjoying our view.  it was the merriest.

hny {that just makes me laugh}

in my family it is a tradition to spend the new year with many friends and family, enjoying lots of wonderful japanese food and watching football.  i am homesick for these traditions {we live in another state} but this year we are blessed to have grandma and grandpa in town to visit.  we wanted to wish everyone a happy new year.  oh-nine to 2010...

p.s. it is not warm here... brrr!

christmas pageant

b had her first christmas pageant.  they sang three songs on their stage and she did so great.

we practiced the songs for three weeks and she was ready to go.  they were dressed as rudolf the red nosed reindeer.

cute as ever...

oh christmas tree

after thanksgiving we decided to put the tree up and decorate it.

this year the kids really got into the spirit of things.

it was fun to watch and a little nerve-wracking... some of our ornaments are old and expensive.

it turned out beautiful and we all had a ball.
